Synopsis

Kiyo and Sumire grew up together dreaming of becoming maikos. When they both apply to join a maiko house, things don't go as planned—Kiyo gets rejected from the apprenticeship program and ends up working as the house cook instead. Sumire, meanwhile, has everything it takes and gets accepted for training. Kiyo's disappointed, obviously, but she doesn't let it get her down. She throws herself into cooking for everyone at the house, finding purpose in supporting her friend and the other residents through food.
