Synopsis

When a demon boar ravages an Emishi village, young Prince Ashitaka rushes to defend his people—and pays a terrible price. The creature's dying curse infects his arm with demonic power, slowly killing him. The village elders send him west to find a cure, and he eventually reaches Tatara, an iron-working town controlled by the ruthless Lady Eboshi. There, he stumbles into an escalating war: Eboshi's relentless logging operation is destroying the forest, and Princess San—raised by the forest's sacred spirits—is fighting back just as fiercely. Caught between two worlds, Ashitaka struggles not only to broker peace between humans and nature, but to keep the demon curse ravaging his body from consuming him entirely. The film explores how technology and nature are locked in conflict, and asks whether coexistence is possible if both sides are willing to listen.
