Synopsis

Allen bombs the final exam for his dream job as a royal court sorcerer, leaving him broke and stranded without even enough money for the train home. A former professor throws him a lifeline with an unexpected offer: tutoring the daughter of Duke Howard, one of the kingdom's most influential nobles. The catch? Tina is completely magically inert. She's brilliant academically—no question there—but brains alone won't cut it for the Royal Academy entrance exams looming ahead. Plenty of instructors have already tried and failed to crack her magical block. Allen takes the gig anyway, determined to figure out what's actually stopping her from using magic. As he digs into the problem, he discovers it runs much deeper than anyone realized.
