Melphiera Marchalrayd, a count's daughter, is obsessed with researching how to cook monster meat—something her late mother started. She's trying to teach her people to prepare these exotic ingredients as a way to prevent famine, but her weird hobby has made her a social pariah. The nobles call her the "Voracious Villainess" and mostly avoid her. At a royal banquet where Melphiera's supposed to find a husband, monsters attack. Aristide Rogier du Galbraith, the crown prince's younger brother, saves her. Aristide's known as the "Blood-Man Duke" because he's terrifyingly good at killing monsters. He's impressed by how fearless Melphiera is and fascinated by her cooking knowledge, so he immediately decides he wants to marry her. Together, this weird couple—easily the oddest pair in high society—work to ignore the nasty rumors about them and support each other's interest in monsters and monster cuisine.
