Synopsis

Kurt Rockhans is a 15-year-old kid with no real combat skills, but he's managed to land a spot in the famous adventuring party Flaming Dragon Fang as their helper. He's actually fine with that—until the rest of the party decides to kick him out and bring in someone stronger. Suddenly jobless, Kurt has to figure out how to survive on his own. With combat off the table, Kurt takes whatever work he can get. One day he meets Yulishia, an adventurer who used to work for the royal family. She's impressed by how well he does his job, and it clicks for her: Kurt isn't just some random kid. He's got incredible talent in all sorts of non-combat skills. Word gets back to the royal court, and a court official basically tells Yulishia to recruit him—offering him a cushy high-status position where he'd never have to worry about anything again. Kurt shuts that down immediately. He doesn't want to see himself as better than anyone else, and he turns down the offer. Still oblivious to how talented he actually is, he just keeps taking job after job. Turns out that might end up making him pretty important to the whole kingdom—even if he never realizes it.
