This anime is a futuristic take on the classic Japanese novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden. The story's set in heaven after a brutal war over control of eight moons created by the savior Fuse. When the fighting ended, only one family—the Oowaris—remained in power, with the surviving son ruling all but one moon. Meitan, the pope's moon, stayed neutral and free from conflict. Eight chosen people, each from a different moon and each carrying one of the elemental jewels that make up Earth, are destined to save humanity. They've all made sacrifices to obtain these jewels and are committed to fulfilling their duty to Queen Fuse, who entrusted them with these artifacts. But when the mad emperor Kai threatens to resurrect a vengeful ghost determined to stop Earth's restoration, the eight must use their jewels' powers to fight back and prevent catastrophe. To complete their mission, they travel to Kusanagi, a ship floating at the center of God's land. There, they need to gather all eight jewels into a key called Yatsufusa at the ship's core—the only way to actually create Earth.
