It's year 0079 of the Universal Century. Humanity's spread out across space in massive colonies called Sides, but things are about to get messy. One Side declares itself the Principality of Zeon and starts a war with the Earth Federation—basically the government running Earth at this point. Zeon's got mobile suits, these giant robot things, and they're dominating the conflict right from the start. Fast forward nine months. The Federation's finally gotten their act together and built their own mobile suit—the Gundam, which is way more powerful than anything Zeon's fielded. When Zeon attacks the colony where the Gundam's being kept, a 15-year-old kid named Amuro Ray ends up in the cockpit completely by accident. Next thing he knows, he's caught in this massive war, fighting across Earth and space. And his main opponent? Char Aznable, who happens to be Zeon's best pilot.
