Meiko's horrified when her Digimon partner Meicoomon is forced to evolve into Meicrackmon and gets corrupted in the process. Once Meicrackmon takes off to cause trouble elsewhere, things get worse—the Digital World itself starts actively rejecting Meiko and the other Chosen Children. The group has to fight their way through enemies and try to find a way home. Back in the real world, a representative from the mysterious entity Homeostasis shows up to talk to both Meiko's father and Daigo Nishijima from the Incorporated Administrative Agency. The messenger drops a bombshell: Homeostasis knows about Meicoomon's origins and plans to eliminate it. Their reasoning is cold and calculated—if they destroy the Digimon, they can prevent any more creatures from crossing over to the human world. They don't really care what the Chosen Children think about it.
