Synopsis

A young boy named Tsuwabaki Daiya witnesses a horrific tragedy when a massive monster emerges from a mysterious black fire in the ocean, killing his father and the crew of their small boat. Just as the creature turns on him, a giant mecha dragon appears and saves his life. Five years pass, and Daiya is now a junior high student when the monsters return. He reunites with the mecha dragon, Daiku Maryu, and discovers that its head can detach and transform into a powerful super robot called Gaiking. Piloting the robot, Daiya defeats the creature. He then learns of a larger threat—an enemy organization plotting world conquest. To stop them, Daiya travels to the alternate world of Darius.
