Inu-Oh
Inu-Ou
After a diving accident at the site of the Dan-no-ura battle—where the Heike clan was wiped out—Tomona goes blind and loses his father. With limited prospects, he takes up the biwa and eventually joins an elite troupe of storytellers under the new name Tomoichi. He then meets an unusual guy who's gotten used to scaring people with his grotesque appearance, but is thrown off when the blind musician treats him like a normal person. They hit it off immediately. The stranger calls himself Inu-Ou and soon realizes he can hear spirits recounting lost stories about the Heike. Tomoichi changes his name to Tomoari and uses his music to back Inu-Ou's underground dance performances, and the two become wildly popular. But their bold, unconventional approach rubs up against traditions the shogunate is invested in protecting. As they get bigger and bigger, they have to deal with the establishment forces trying to keep them in check.
