Deep in the unexplored mountains and forests of Kinokuni, there's an armed group flying the Yatagarasu flag—they call themselves the Saikashu, and they're one of the few factions actually using guns. Their leader is Magoichi, a foreign-born commander who took over the group. Meanwhile, Saburo is scrambling to protect Hinomoto from European invasion, sensing the threat long before anyone else takes it seriously. These two were never supposed to cross paths, but when foreign invaders arrive, their fates become entangled in the fight for their country's survival.
