The Anthem of the Heart
Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda.
Jun Naruse grew up obsessed with fairy tales and happily-ever-afters, but her naivety came back to bite her hard. When she carelessly revealed her father's affair to the family, it blew everything apart. Her parents divorced, everyone blamed her, and the guilt basically broke something inside her. Her regret manifested as a literal fairy egg—some kind of magical being that sealed her lips shut, determined to protect everyone's happiness by keeping her silent. Years later in high school, she's still stuck with it. Even attempting to speak makes her stomach hurt. So she's gotten used to staying quiet and keeping to herself. That changes when the school picks her—along with three other students named Takumi Sakagami, Natsuki Nitou, and Daiki Tasaki—to perform in a musical. Jun heads to the club room planning to turn it down, but then she hears Sakagami sing. It's beautiful enough to make her reconsider. She starts wondering if maybe the fairy egg's curse doesn't apply to singing. And if maybe this Sakagami guy could be the prince charming from her storybooks. The question becomes whether she can finally express what's in her heart through music, even if words are still off-limits.
