Synopsis

Shouya Ishida was a troublemaking kid who'd do anything to fight off boredom—including being genuinely cruel. When Shouko Nishimiya, a deaf girl, joins his class, Shouya and his classmates thoughtlessly bully her. But when Shouko's mother complains to the school, all the blame falls on Shouya alone. After Shouko transfers out, he becomes the target of relentless bullying from his former peers, while the teachers just ignore it all. By his third year of high school, Shouya's still carrying the weight of what he did back then. He genuinely regrets it and decides to track down Shouko to apologize and make things right. A Silent Voice follows Shouya as he reunites with Shouko and tries to earn her forgiveness—except he can't escape the guilt of his past, no matter how hard he tries.
