The Federation crumbled, though the revolutionaries couldn't capitalize on their victory to actually invade. Fifteen years later, things have stabilized somewhat. A new Federation has taken control of Earth and started rebuilding. Meanwhile, the colonial powers have been quietly rearming in space, gearing up for round two. That's where Garrod Ran comes in. The fifteen-year-old stumbles across an old Gundam—the X model—and ends up piloting it for the Freeden, a salvage ship fighting to prevent both sides from dragging humanity back into that nightmare.
