Synopsis

God abandoned the world, and with that abandonment came a curse: the dead can't find peace, and the living can't create new life. Instead, the restless dead just wander among the living. Before disappearing for good, God left behind one final gift—"gravekeepers," magical beings who can lay the dead to rest through proper burial. Ai is a cheerful, innocent girl who works as her village's gravekeeper, taking over the role from her deceased mother. Everything changes when a man named Hampnie Hambart shows up claiming to be Ai's father. He slaughters her entire village. With nothing left and no clear path forward, Ai joins him anyway, deciding to travel alongside this mysterious stranger. As they journey, Ai continues doing what gravekeepers do—helping the restless dead find peace and supporting the living—while slowly uncovering the truth about this broken world God left behind.
