Synopsis

It's the year 2356. Back in 2167, a nearby star called Hydrus Beta went supernova and bathed Earth in deadly radiation, killing millions. Humanity's been rebuilding ever since, but they know the worst is still coming—the second wave of radiation will hit sometime soon. To prepare, massive space colonies called Foundations have been built throughout the Solar System. These serve as centers for knowledge and exploration, and they're humanity's best shot at survival. Shima Katase dreams of working at one of them—specifically the Stellvia—despite her mother's objections. She wants to see space with her own eyes, not just read about it. Once she gets to the Stellvia, Katase trains as a pilot and hopes to be picked for the "Great Mission," a project designed to shield Earth from that second wave. Between struggling through her pilot courses and dealing with a rough social life, she gradually proves herself capable. And maybe, just maybe, she's got what it takes to actually save humanity.
