Return of Pero
Nagagutsu Sanjuushi
In the shadows of an old ruined castle, the King of Cats ruled with an iron paw. Known for his explosive temper, he's currently furious with his three hired gunmen—they were supposed to bring back Pero, but came back empty-handed. Pero, once a loyal subject, committed the ultimate crime in Cat Country: he saved a mouse from death. Naturally, the King sees this as an unforgivable betrayal and orders his gunmen to hunt Pero down, no matter how far they have to go. Pero's a laid-back, cool cat, and he's not about to stick around for the King's revenge. He heads west to make his fortune, easily outmaneuvering the gunmen on his tail. On a stagecoach bound for Go Go Town, he befriends Annie—an educated young woman returning home—and Jimmy, a quiet kid with sleepy eyes. When bandits suddenly ambush the coach looking for the new sheriff, they tear through and leave just as quickly. Things look grim when Annie gets to town. Her father was murdered by the Big Bad Boss after discovering he was counterfeiting money. The Boss kills every sheriff sent to maintain law and order, keeping the entire town under his control. He tries intimidating Annie into leaving, but she's made of sterner stuff and refuses to back down. She, Pero, and Jimmy team up to open a restaurant in her father's old building. Here's where things get weird: Pero saves a young Indian mouse from a trap. The mouse's father, the tribal chief, becomes their unlikely ally. Turns out Jimmy's actually the new sheriff in disguise. Together, they dismantle the Boss's operation, expose his counterfeiting factory, and take him down. Everything works out in the end.
