Synopsis

The College faces a crisis when a series of attacks leave both staff and students magically drained. Headmistress Liza Quillyn makes the tough call to seal the entire campus—no one in or out. This traps Philomela Sargant inside, unable to follow her grandmother Lizbeth's orders to leave. Stuck there with everyone else, Chise Hatori and her classmates have to adapt to the lockdown. But Philomela's situation deteriorates, her health and sanity both taking a hit. At the same time, details about Lucy Webster's—Chise's roommate—traumatic past keep bubbling back up to the surface. As Chise worries about her friends and figures out who she really is, the mystery of whoever's been draining magic from the College might finally get solved.
