Zoids are animal-shaped mecha that used to be weapons of war, but nowadays they're strictly competition machines. The Blitz Team is a scrappy group of pilots trying to make it in the professional Zoid battling circuit when they catch a break: Bit Cloud, a drifter working as a junk dealer, shows up and discovers he's the only one who can pilot the Liger Zero, a notoriously picky Zoid that won't let anyone else in the cockpit. With Bit at the controls, the Blitz Team starts climbing the ranks. But success attracts unwanted attention. The Backdraft Group—a crew of rogue Zoid pilots who operate outside the official Battle Commission rules—has noticed them, and they're specifically after the Liger Zero. They want powerful Zoids to recruit into their organization, and Bit's mech is exactly what they're looking for.
