Shiro started out as Momotarou's sidekick in the classic Japanese folktale, but these days he's moved on to bigger things—literally working in animal hell now. His job is pretty straightforward: he helps punish people who spent their lives abusing animals. He and Hoozuki have a good working relationship, which probably makes the whole eternal punishment thing a bit more bearable.
