Buyo is Kagome's chunky, perpetually napping cat—and the unlikely catalyst for her entire adventure. When Buyo wandered into the well at the Higurashi Shrine, Kagome had to chase after him since her little brother Sota was too frightened to do it himself. That's when Mistress Centipede, a demon lurking in the well, sensed the Shikon Jewel inside Kagome and dragged her straight down to InuYasha's era. So really, Buyo's laziness is responsible for everything that follows.
Despite being a dog demon, InuYasha surprisingly bonds with the tubby cat. Whenever he visits Kagome's time, he's often spotted playing with Buyo, which makes for one of the series' more charming running gags.
