Vanir's basically an ex-general from the Demon King's forces—he was an Arch-Demon and a Duke of Hell before all that. These days he runs the shop with Wiz, where he spends most of his time chewing her out over her terrible business sense. He's got this whole stern authority thing going on, which makes the constant stream of complaints about her management style feel pretty natural coming from him.
