Taichi comes from old money—his father and grandfather are both doctors—and he's basically the definition of a golden boy. Smart, good-looking, and genuinely mature, he's got that rare quality of being naturally good at almost everything. In the Mizusawa Karuta Club, he's the steady voice of reason, constantly looking out for Chihaya and the newer members. That said, he's hard on himself. He tends to overthink situations and demands a lot both as a player and as club president.
What makes him dangerous in karuta is his memory. He has an almost spooky ability to predict which cards might be called next and can out-strategize his opponents before they know what's happening. The downside? He's dealing with a pretty obvious crush on Chihaya. Problem is, he's convinced she's only interested in Arata, so he keeps it to himself rather than risk anything.
