Sakazuki, better known as Admiral Akainu (the name literally means "Red Dog"), is one of only three Admirals in the Marines and answers directly to Fleet Admiral Sengoku. He took over as Fleet Admiral himself during the timeskip.
Akainu is infamous for his extreme interpretation of "Absolute Justice." His most notorious example is ordering the destruction of a refugee ship over the mere possibility that an Ohara scholar might escape on it—a call so ruthless that even fellow Admiral Aokiji called him out for taking things too far. For Akainu, the logic is simple: if even one scholar got away, the whole operation failed. His devotion to this philosophy defines how he operates.
As an Admiral, he commands massive Marine forces and has the authority to deploy a Buster Call on any island he deems necessary. Since he shares the Admiral rank with Kizaru and Aokiji, it's safe to assume his combat skills are roughly on their level—which is to say, extremely formidable.
Power-wise, Akainu is a Magma Human who can transform his body into magma, giving him devastating offensive and defensive capabilities in battle.
