Samus Aran is an intergalactic bounty hunter and the protagonist of the Metroid series.
Space Pirates killed her parents during a raid on her homeworld K-2L, leaving her orphaned as a child. The Chozo, a mysterious alien race, took her in and raised her on their planet Zebes. They infused her with their own DNA, transforming her into a formidable warrior. When she came of age, Samus briefly worked as a Federation Police officer under Commander Adam Malkovich before striking out on her own as a bounty hunter—though the Galactic Federation continued to contract her for high-stakes jobs.
Samus is best known for the nearly impossible missions she's pulled off while wearing her iconic cybernetic Power Suit. Her biggest accomplishments include wiping out the Space Pirate stronghold on Zebes, stopping the Galactic Phazon crisis, completely eradicating the Metroid species, and—most controversially—disobeying Federation orders at the Biologic Space Laboratories to destroy the dangerous X Parasites rather than hand them over as requested.
