Jinjiao and Yinjiao

Jinjiao and Yinjiao are immortal brothers who got themselves banished from the Heavens after causing some kind of incident up there. As punishment, they were transformed into small rodent creatures—think somewhere between hamsters, chinchillas, and mice—and sent down to Earth to live out their exile.
The brothers have been stuck in these animal forms ever since, though they've retained their immortality despite the downgrade in living conditions. Not much is known about what exactly they did to warrant such a dramatic fall from grace, but it was clearly serious enough that the Heavens decided rodent form was fitting punishment.
