Moriyama used to fly dragons professionally—she was Masotan's second pilot back when she was active with the JASDF, though she stepped away from the job relatively early on. These days she shows up at the Gifu Airbase's 15th annual airshow with her son in tow. That's when things get interesting: she hears Masotan calling out and follows the sound into Hangar 8, only to find the dragon freaking out from all the airshow chaos. But the moment Moriyama's there, Masotan calms down enough to actually swallow Amakasu and get through the performance. After it's all over, she officially gives Amakasu her TAC name, using the authority she still carries as his technical superior.
