A sharp kid who ranks among the top students in an already competitive class. He's got the grades to back up his confidence, though that confidence sometimes tips into looking down on kids from the lower-tier Class Ha. The thing is, all that book smarts don't necessarily translate to the real world—he struggles when he's actually expected to *do* something outside a test. He's almost always hanging around with his best friend Sakichi.
There's some inconsistency in how he was introduced between the anime and manga versions. He originally showed up as a second-year student named Tensaimaru, but was later reintroduced as a first-year with his current name and has been that way since.
