Uraltugo Noi Nueph—usually just called Ugo—is best known as Aladdin's closest companion, though he's actually a Djinn bound to King Solomon. He's a former Magi from Alma Torran and one of the original wielders of the 72 Divine Staves. The magic system Aladdin later uses gets named after him, a tribute to their long friendship.
Ugo is fiercely loyal to Aladdin, addressing him as Emperor and willing to do whatever it takes to keep him safe. When Judar hurt Aladdin, Ugo lost it completely—he went into a berserker rage and absolutely destroyed him. On the flip side, he's painfully shy around women and literally faints if they touch him.
Back in Alma Torran, his peers didn't take him seriously. Ithnan called him a coward for hiding during raids, and both Ithnan and Falan found his constant rambling about magical theory and mathematics so insufferable they nicknamed him the "Magic Otaku." Falan once suggested his awkwardness with women stemmed from never having a girlfriend—mostly because he wouldn't shut up about theories. The problem got worse as he aged; talking to unfamiliar women became nearly impossible for him. Despite all this, Ugo remains genuinely upbeat and committed to Solomon's vision.
He was one of Solomon's Three Wise Magi alongside Arba and Sheba, after helping with Solomon's resistance movement against the old government. When conflict erupted between Sheba and the other magicians, Ugo stayed neutral. But when Arba founded Al-Thamen and war broke out, Sheba was killed. Before her soul returned to Rukh, she asked Ugo to look after her unborn child: Aladdin.
After Solomon sealed Al-Thamen away, his final order to Ugo was to create the world anew. Ugo designed the entire Magi system from scratch and instructed Djinns to serve as guardian deities for metal vessels and their kings. He then transformed himself into a Djinn and became the Sacred Palace's eternal guardian, maintaining the flow of Magi souls into the world. A thousand years later, when Al-Thamen resurrected and corrupted the Magi Judar, Ugo used Sheba's remaining Rukh to transform the fetal Aladdin into a child.
For years, Ugo and Aladdin were trapped together in the Sacred Palace's Room of Fortitude. He taught Aladdin everything he knew, and Aladdin eventually used one of his wishes to make Ugo his friend. They had good times—until Aladdin had to leave the palace. Ugo went with him, though he couldn't exactly bring his whole body along.
