The male lead of the series. He's naturally reserved and easily bothered by the chaos that Yuzuki and his sister tend to create around him. What stands out most is his strong sense of responsibility—he genuinely cares about the people around him and worries about their wellbeing.
He joined the school cooking club mainly because he thought Nanami would be there too, which hints at his long-standing feelings for her. Before the series kicks off, he'd spent his whole life in his hometown and developed a secret crush on Nanami back in middle school. He's also got some history with Yuzuki: they met as kids when she got lost at a festival, and he helped her out. He told her she could come find him if she ever needed help.
When Yuzuki actually shows up at his house early in the story, he doesn't even remember that childhood encounter—and initially, he's pretty annoyed by her presence. That changes quickly though. He becomes protective of her, and they end up developing a genuine friendship. Through Yuzuki's meddling, he finally gets closer to Nanami and works up the courage to confess. Unfortunately, Nanami isn't ready to reciprocate; she asks him to stay friends and says she needs time to think about her own feelings.
Yuzuki, for her part, also confesses her love for him. She's convinced he'll eventually fall for her, but she's under the impression that he and Nanami will end up together first.
