Sophocles's father first showed up in SM019 as a recurring character. He and his wife live with Sophocles in a house in Hau'oli City. At one point, Sophocles brought Ash home and introduced him to both parents. He made another appearance in SM024 during Visiting Day at the Pokémon School, where he and his wife came to see Sophocles and ended up chatting with Ash's mom, Delia. He appeared again in SM026.
