Asuka Katakura holds the 6th Seat in the 3rd Division under Captain Roujuurou Otoribashi.
He shows up during the Vandenreich invasion standing near one of those massive pillars of blue flame, posted with Lieutenant Izuru Kira and the rest of the division. When Taketsuna Gori starts complaining about the wait and hoping the enemy shows up already, Asuka calls him out on it. Once word comes down from the Reishi Investigation Team that there's a Quincy inside the flame, Izuru gives the order to attack—but gets seriously wounded before he can even get going. Third Seat Rikū Togakushi then tells everyone to release their Shikai and go at the Quincy. Asuka does exactly that, but gets overpowered pretty badly; the Quincy slams his head straight into the ground.
