Naoya's basically convinced he's the rightful heir to the entire Zenin Family, which is pretty much his whole thing. As one of Naobito's sons, he's spent most of his time positioning himself as the logical choice to take over the clan—though whether the family actually agrees with him is another story. His obsession with this perceived birthright shapes most of his actions and attitude toward other clan members, especially anyone he sees as competition for the position.
