Xiaoyu Lei used to work for the Heilei, but he's now with the Shinoyama Clan—specifically assigned to look after Sayo while she's staying with the guy pretending to be her uncle Polka. He comes across as polite and eager to help, the kind of person who'd seem like an ideal servant. But there's a dark side. He genuinely wants both the fake Polka and the real one dead.
His beef with the impostor is straightforward: he sees him as a threat to the Shinoyama family. The grudge against actual Polka runs deeper, though. Xiaoyu basically worships Rozan Shinoyama, and he's always been jealous that Polka got Rozan's paternal attention instead of him. That jealousy has festered into something uglier—a superiority complex where he's convinced he's the son Rozan actually deserves, way more useful than the "inferior" Polka.
The thing is, Xiaoyu can be incredibly stubborn. Once he's suspicious of someone, it's almost impossible to shake him off it, even when Rozan himself says he trusts the impostor. His personal insecurities fuel this obsessive need to prove himself—as the perfect guard, the perfect servant, the perfect son. He's genuinely proactive about his goals, which means he's always eavesdropping or creeping around late at night doing weird stuff. It's actually kind of funny how over-the-top his suspicion gets sometimes.
What probably keeps him from being totally insufferable is his self-confidence. He's got enough pride to stand up to his old Heilei family and reject them outright, even with blood ties involved.
