Tooru Oshikiri is a quiet, short kid who doesn't have many friends. His parents work abroad and leave him to fend for himself in this huge mansion, which honestly just makes everything worse—he's lonely, and his sense of reality is starting to slip. On top of that, weird stuff just happens around him and anyone unlucky enough to get close to him. He deals with some genuinely disturbing hallucinations of people with impossibly long necks, a creepy bog that supposedly swallows anyone who wanders into it, a strange girl with an even stranger circle of pen pals, and all sorts of unexplainable things happening inside his own house. At this point, the supernatural pretty much follows him around like a second shadow.
