Ghost Cat
The Ghost Cat makes his home inside the large bell he carries around his neck—a walking house of sorts. He's obsessed with finding a fiancée, and he's got a smaller bell that works like an engagement ring. Whoever holds it is automatically his intended.
Shampoo ends up with the smaller bell, but she wants nothing to do with him. When the Ghost Cat discovers that Ranma is somehow connected to Shampoo, he decides to haunt Ranma instead, figuring that'll solve his problem. This backfires spectacularly—Ranma's cat phobia kicks in and he reflexively uses his Cat-fu technique on the poor ghost. Realizing he's completely outmatched, the Ghost Cat gives up and goes looking for love elsewhere.
He doesn't stay gone for long. On New Year's Eve 1991, he shows up again, determined to make Shampoo his bride for real. He drags her off to the Cat Temple and seals her inside. When she manages to escape, she's transformed into her cat form—and there's a catch. Only a kiss from Ranma can break the spell, but once the 108 New Year's bells finish tolling, the transformation becomes permanent. It's a race against time.
