Bora used to work as a mage for the Titan Nose Guild until he got kicked out for using magic to help pull off thefts. Rather than go straight, he founded his own criminal outfit and operated under the alias "Salamander."
He had a brief thing with Juvia Lockser at some point—the exact nature of their relationship is a bit unclear, whether it was actually dating or just a close friendship—but it didn't last. Bora apparently couldn't deal with her constant rain and ended things pretty quickly.
