He earned the nickname "janitor" because his job was basically cleaning up messy situations in the criminal underworld—work that eventually burned him out. Now he's trying to leave that life behind and experience something he never got: a normal school existence.
On the surface, he comes across as cool and philosophical, with minimalist tastes and a practical mindset. He's also kind of a tsundere about it all—he won't admit how much he actually cares about people. Yuuji sees himself as a realist through and through, which means he's naturally cautious and methodical. Before he does anything, he scouts the situation and plans it out carefully.
So yeah, he's basically a regular fit guy who just happens to have a background in some pretty unorthodox military-style work. But he's trying to move past that.
