Mai serves as vice president of the athletics club and is basically obsessed with Tsukushi, wanting to take over as president when Tsukushi eventually steps down. When Tsukushi basically forces her into it, Mai reluctantly agrees to go on a date with Youto, which shows she's willing to be decent even toward someone she sees as a rival.
