Kiryu Setsuna, known as The Beautiful Beast, is best known for his deeply twisted obsession with Tokita Ohma and his role as a fighter for the Koyo Academy Group during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament. His life story is almost impossible to separate from Ohma's.
Kiryu was born in the Inside, kept as organ stock by a wealthy biological father. He spent his childhood beaten, confined, and discarded—until a young Tokita Ohma killed his captors, apparently to protect his own territory. This moment changed everything. Kiryu became convinced Ohma was a god sent to punish him for his sinful existence, and the obsession never left him. He stayed in the Inside searching for "god" again, working his way up through child prostitution to gain money and connections, eventually catching the attention of one of Goyu Ward's most powerful figures.
When Kiryu finally ventured Outside, he tracked down and murdered his biological father, taking his money and using his network to continue hunting Ohma. Two years after their first encounter, Kiryu found Ohma—only to be devastated to discover he'd been "defiled" by Tokita Niko, Ohma's master. This is where The Other Tokita Niko enters the picture, teaching Kiryu the Niko Style himself. Through this mentor, Kiryu eventually became a student of the martial artist Taira Genzan.
When Kiryu finally confronted Ohma again years later, he activated the Possessing Spirit that The Other Niko had given him, going into an uncontrollable rampage that nearly got him killed before Niko himself intervened. What followed was a fight between the two Nikos—a clash Kiryu could only watch.
The story gets darker: Genzan had killed the original Niko years back. During ten years of Death Fights together, Kiryu murdered his own master before Ohma could seek revenge on him, intentionally earning Ohma's wrath in the process.
