Tobio is the protagonist of Ichiei Ishibumi's earlier series Daten no Inugami -SLASHDØG- and appears as a supporting character in the DxD universe. He's the wielder of the Longinus weapon Canis Lyakon and one of Grigori's most formidable fighters.
Before everything fell apart, Tobio lived an ordinary life as a Japanese high school student with his grandmother and childhood friend Sae Toujou. Then came the school trip to Hawaii.
The Luxury Liner Incident
Tobio missed the trip due to a severe fever—a detail that would haunt him. While he stayed behind saying goodbye to his classmates, the luxury liner sank four days into the voyage. Of his year, 233 students were presumed dead. Only five others had been too sick to board.
For months afterward, Tobio struggled with the weight of survivor's guilt and grief, especially for Sae. That changed when he spotted two familiar faces on his walk home from school: Sae and his classmate Kouta Sasaki, both supposedly dead. When he chased them down and caught Sasaki, he discovered she wasn't quite herself anymore—she was accompanied by some kind of lizard-like creature she could control. Things went bad fast. Sasaki's monster attacked him, and he nearly didn't survive until another survivor, Natsume Minagawa, stepped in to save him.
From that point on, Tobio entered a world he never knew existed. He learned about the supernatural and dove into uncovering what really happened to the ship—all while crossing paths with major DxD players like Azazel, Vali Lucifer, Lavinia, and Walburga.
