Waltrud Kaprinski—"Gräfin" to everyone—is one of Karlsland's most seasoned air witches, originally from the northern region. She's best known for her sharp marksmanship and impressive agility in the cockpit, though her reckless disregard for her own safety is equally legendary. She and her crewmates Katajainen and Kanno have basically become famous for trashing strikers at an absurd rate.
The "Gräfin" nickname plays off her striking, elegant appearance and refined manners—but that reputation only tells half the story. She's a serious drinker and has quite the reputation as a womanizer, which tends to surprise people expecting a countess to be more demure. She originally wanted to fly naval aviation but ended up joining the Karlsland Air Force's JG 52 instead, where she worked alongside Erica Hartmann (who served as her wingman) and Gertrud Barkhorn. In 1944, she transferred to the 502nd Joint Fighter Wing in the Baltic.
Her real-world counterpart is Walter Krupinski, the celebrated Luftwaffe pilot.
