Uxie is a small, gray fairy-type Pokémon with two tails, each topped with a red gem. Its partially yellow face features another red gem set into its forehead, and its head shape vaguely suggests either a helmet or a brain. The most distinctive thing about Uxie is that it always keeps its eyes shut—and for good reason: anyone who sees them has their memory wiped clean.
As one of the lake guardians alongside Mesprit and Azelf, Uxie was first discovered in Sinnoh and forms a legendary trio that's central to the region's mythology. It's both feared and respected for erasing the memories of those with evil intent, and its spiritual abilities are just as remarkable. Uxie can separate its spirit from its body at will and return without dying. More importantly, it's credited with creating all knowledge in the Pokémon universe itself—when it first emerged, humans suddenly gained the understanding they needed to solve problems and build better lives. For this reason, it's often called the "Being of Knowledge."
Despite being exceptionally shy, Uxie will fight hard if threatened or if its companions are in danger. It can create illusions, teleport itself and others, and even communicate with humans through telepathy. Its body—specifically its gems or claws—is essential for creating and destroying Red Chains, and alongside the other lake guardians, it can calm down Dialga or Palkia if they become enraged, though not both simultaneously.
