Mayumi is an office worker living at the Kawai Complex. She's best known for her volatile personality—especially when she's been drinking, which is often. When drunk, she's prone to cursing, picking fights with whoever's nearby, and generally causing chaos. She and Usa are neighbors, and she takes particular pleasure in messing with him.
Her romantic life is a mess. She's technically married to (or dating—it's unclear) Kenji, but that relationship is constantly on-and-off, and she tends to get tangled up in other relationships that never really pan out. Fans often note that her dramatic love life is a running gag throughout her time at the complex.
