A fellow student of Nie Li's in the fighter apprentice class at Holy Orchid Institute, Du Ze comes from a poor commoner background—the Du family doesn't have much going for them financially. Still, he's hardworking and genuinely talented, which counts for more than his circumstances.
Du Ze's the serious type. He's straightforward and honorable to a fault, which means he often finds himself playing the responsible older brother figure. He's constantly on Lu Piao's case about being lazy, and the two bicker about it regularly, though it's all pretty friendly. He has genuine respect for Nie Li and looks up to him significantly.
