Introduced in episode 6, he's the eldest son of the 8th Tokugawa shogun—a studious type who completely lacks physical strength but makes up for it with his brain. He wears a noh mask to conceal his emotions and his contempt for the endless lies surrounding him. Desperate to learn more about the giant insects plaguing the era, he attempted to sneak into the Insect Magistrate's Office under the fake name Nagatomimaru to access the restricted Momijiyama Archives. Kotori caught him in the act, but after discovering his true identity, she cut him a deal instead of turning him in.
He develops an unexpected connection with Jinbei over the course of the story.
