Meloetta is a feminine-coded Legendary Pokémon with a distinctly musical design. It has a round head topped with musical note-styled hair, quarter-note arms, and blank white eyes like whole notes. There's a jewel on its forehead and a treble clef-shaped headpiece that functions as a built-in microphone. Gender-wise, Meloetta is considered genderless.
The Pokémon shifts between two forms. In Aria Forme, it has light blue eyes and flowing wavy hair decorated with light-blue whole-note ovals. Switch to Pirouette Forme and you get auburn hair in a high bun with red eyes instead. In both forms, its midriff matches its hair color.
Among Unova's artistic community, Meloetta is basically legendary—its singing and dancing have inspired countless songs, artworks, and performances. Musicians and dancers especially gravitate toward it. The real magic is in its melody, which can actually manipulate emotions in both people and Pokémon, swinging them between happiness and sadness. It can also supposedly unseal sealed locations like the Abyssal Ruins. There's a darker side though: if the world fills with sorrow, Meloetta could theoretically lose its song and dancing ability entirely.
Beyond music, Meloetta's got some impressive abilities. It can fly, turn invisible like other Legendary Pokémon, and—weirdly enough—channel its song through something called the Reveal Glass to summon and control the Forces of Nature trio. The catch is that doing this causes it serious pain.
What makes Meloetta unique is that it's the only Pokémon that learns Relic Song, the move that lets it switch between Aria and Pirouette forms. Aria Forme emphasizes singing, while Pirouette Forme is all about dancing.
