Shizuka
Age: 26 (Beginning of the story), 27 (Currently)
Occupation: Former Overseas Investment Banker
Shizuka grew up in America as the daughter of a heavyweight in the financial world—her father's reputation in investment banking looms large over her childhood. That kind of environment breeds a certain type of person: analytical, sharp, relentlessly critical. She learned early that mistakes are expensive, and sentiment doesn't pay bills. She worked as an overseas investment banker before everything went sideways.
She was stationed at the Japan branch when the pandemic hit. Suddenly cut off from her American colleagues with no clear direction, she was basically on her own. Rather than panic, she did what she does best: she analyzed the problem. She compiled an actual list—"100 Things to do to avoid becoming a Zombie"—pulling from zombie movies, survival logic, and her own careful observation. It sounds absurd, but the list became weirdly practical.
She first runs into Akira at a convenience store while gathering supplies. She keeps her wits about her, calculates the situation, and manages to get them both out alive. Later, when she's on a bus with a larger group headed to an aquarium, she encounters Akira and Kencho again. She's skeptical of Akira's impulse-driven heroics—they seem reckless to her—but she can't deny it when he saves her from a zombie shark. Still annoying, but hard to argue with results.
The two of them cross paths again at an RV Expo Hall, both having had the same idea about vehicles. When zombies swarm the place, she ends up stuck in a randomly selected RV with Akira. She's been traveling with him ever since, serving as the group's strategist and the voice of reason—or at least the voice of cold analysis.
