Kakyouin is a student who got caught up in Dio's schemes after traveling to Egypt. Dio sensed his Stand ability and challenged him to demonstrate it—which basically meant fighting. Things went downhill fast: Dio implanted buds from his own cells into Kakyouin's body, brainwashing him into becoming a tool to assassinate Joutarou Kuujou.
How exactly this all went down depends on which version you're looking at. In the manga and games, Kakyouin attacks Joutarou at his school clinic. The OVA went a different route, having him use Hierophant Green to possess a female student's body instead.
Joutarou figured out pretty quickly that Kakyouin wasn't acting of his own will. He risked a lot doing it, but managed to use Star Platinum to physically remove Dio's implants from Kakyouin's head—freeing him completely. After that, Kakyouin joins the group for the journey to Egypt to save Holy and take down Dio once and for all.
His Stand, Hierophant Green, is a long-range fighter that can unleash a devastating energy attack called the Emerald Splash. Pretty effective stuff.
Personality-wise, Kakyouin's got this calm, almost detached vibe—the type who'll crack crude jokes to break tension or lighten the mood. He's usually hanging around Joutarou in his green school uniform, often smiling like he's above it all, though he's genuinely humble underneath that swagger.
