Kasumi is a mysterious girl the protagonists discover living in a garbage dump in "sunset town," a location within the Otherside. She's malnourished, feral, and largely withdrawn from social interaction—though she does seem to understand what people say to her. Sorawo and Toriko find a photo of Abarato among her belongings and initially wonder if there's a connection, though they eventually drop the theory.
What's notable is that Sorawo, who's normally indifferent to others, felt compelled to help her. After they leave the Otherside, the girl comes under care at DS Research. Her real name remains unknown; "Kasumi" (meaning "mist") is what Sorawo calls her once her unusual abilities become apparent.
